De Volksbank Financial Markets is looking to appoint a highly motivated and passionate colleague to join its Funding Team. As a Funding Specialist you are responsible for supporting the identification, evaluation, and execution of funding opportunities, preferably in ESG format. To ensure that our data and databases are up to date you will leverage your data management and analytical skills and safeguard consistency, integrity and quality. You will also support the business with your knowledge about sustainable finance principles, global climate goals and Sustainable Development Goals. To achieve our goals, you will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Your responsibilities at a glance:

  • Data research, collection and analysis of market and economic developments aimed at supporting (green) capital market issuances;
  • Data management and data quality, for securitisation/covered bonds and for ESG issuance;
  • Structuring and execution of capital and financing transactions;
  • Relationship management with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Monitoring existing transactions for performance, exposure, laws and regulations and rating agencies;
  • (Operational) process development and improvement of methodologies, procedures and tools for efficiency, uniformity and standardisation.

About us
De Volksbank Financial Markets (VFM) is the Treasury Department and responsible for a wide range of activities such as cash management, money-markets investments, liquidity portfolio management, collateral management, derivative trading and hedging, bond issues (preferably in green or sustainable format), market making own bonds and trading. Front office activities are supported by a back office and a mid office. VFM has a staff of approximately 40 to 45 employees. Working for the VFM team means working in a fast moving environment, with dedicated colleagues who are very keen to help you to achieve your goals. The team operates in a lively, collaborative and supportive environment where each day is different. Within VFM it is important to develop yourself, and we therefore support you by offering training opportunities and a personal development budget.

Practical background and relevance
You are well-organised and able to prioritise tasks. Besides having strong time management skills, you are able to work independently and a committed colleague with a great sense of responsibility.

Relevant experience in relation to data (consistency, integrity, quality) and in data management principles are a big plus.

If you have relevant experience in a sustainable finance environment or data management area, this is considered a plus, as are an understanding of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol standard and carbon footprint in general, and the different ESG benchmarks and the Sustainable Finance Action Plan.

We find it important that you are enthusiastic, eager to continuously develop yourself and that you want to make a contribution by suggesting innovative ideas. Naturally, you are passionate about sustainable finance, climate change and climate strategies.

You have/are:

  • an academic degree, preferably a degree in Economics, (Sustainable) Finance, Business Administration;
  • approximately 3-years’ work experience in treasury, debt-capital markets or related areas within the financial sector;
  • familiar with sustainable finance principles, environmental challenges, and social impact measurement frameworks;
  • familiar with data management and are able to perform rigorous research and data analysis;
  • you have excellent communication and presentation skills and you are highly proficient in spoken and written English and Dutch;
  • a growth mindset and are willing keep your skills and knowledge up to date.

What do we offer?

The monthly gross salary for this position ranges between €3.939,79 - €6.061,21 on the basis of a 36-hour work week. In addition, de Volksbank offers the following interesting and flexible fringe benefits:

  • A 36-hour work week that is flexible in scheduling, e.g. working four 9-hour days (4x9);
  • Working from home includes a home office allowance of €40 per month and a budget of €900 every five year to set up your home office;
