Job Description
As a Junior Data Scientist Transaction Monitoring you can have social impact, by catching the criminals using analytics models to analyse Rabobank transactions of 8+ million customers.

Preventing Money Laundering & Terrorist Financing are one of the key aspects for our society and our organization, and as a bank we play a major role in this field. In order to be effective in fighting financial crime, we need talented individuals like yourself who get their energy from looking into data, patterns and behaviour of our customers to uncover illegal activities. In a multi-disciplinary team filled with smart and driven colleagues from a variety of nationalities you will work on optimizing our Transaction Monitoring (TM) model and TM system. As you can imagine, doing this job requires statistical, investigative and analytical expertise and if done successfully, will make sure that our analysts are able to focus on the true positive alerts – hence spend their time on truly value-adding activities. In summary, in this role you will be on the front line of fighting financial crime.
Practical Examples
- Do you want to help us catch even more types of suspicious behaviour? Collaborate with Anti Money Laundering (AML) experts, dive into our analytics environment (Databricks) and identify unusual patterns in our data.
- Do you want to see your code in production? Learn how to write production-ready code (Python, PySpark) and optimize its performance.
- Do you want to help us increase the potential of our TM system? Investigate how new data sources can be integrated into our data model or expand on the functionality of our model components.

Advanced Analytics Young Professional Program
It is important for Rabobank to support young talent in their professional and personal development. Successful applicants to this Junior Data Scientist position will also join the Advanced Analytics Young Professional Program (AA-YPP). T he AA YPP is an 18-month program in which a group of junior colleagues in the field of analytics are supported to develop their careers and become experts in their fields. You will be offered courses on soft and hard skills and 1-on-1 coaching from your talent manager. With the group, you will have the opportunity to: (partly) shape the program, build a network within the bank, and share experiences/reflect with others in similar stage of their career.

You and your talent
- Recent MSc graduate or PhD in a STEM field with less than 2 years of working experience.
- Background in Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Econometrics or a related field.
- Strong analytics skills and programming skills.
- Communicative, pro-active, structured, and can work well with different people and roles
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Motivation to catch criminals by making our TM system more effective; in other words, you are motivated to build models that realize measurable impact for the bank and society, not necessarily to build the most complex advanced analytics models.

- Up to €3.785,60 gross per month (scale 7)
