As a Senior Data Scientist/ Senior Data Engineer Transaction Monitoring you can have social impact, by catching the criminals using analytics models to analyse Rabobank transactions of 9+ million customers.

You and your job
Preventing Money Laundering & Terrorist Financing is one of the key aspects for our society and our organisation, and as a bank we play a major role in this field. Within Rabobank we have built a data driven solution that analyses more than 11 million transactions per day to detect customers which launder money or finance terrorists. As behavioural patterns of criminals constantly evolve, our solution needs to adapt and evolve just as quickly. To keep our solution flexible and stable we need smart individuals like yourself who are passionate about building and improving our current Transaction Monitoring (TM) solution. One of the improvements we have identified for our solution is the introduction of more advanced analytics methodologies such as Machine Learning into our TM models.

To keep our Transaction Monitoring (TM) solution up to date to fight financial crime, you are passionate about data engineering, coding, designing and building complex (data) engines and related software infrastructure, solving (technical) performance and data-related functional challenges, helping colleagues to fulfil their (technical) requests and always looking for ways to do things smarter and better. This way you make sure Rabobank will be able to effectively fight financial crime!

Practical examples

  • Develop and build scalable components (code bases) that allow for data processing and data generation on Big Data.
  • Analyse source and output data to build knowledge and detect potential data-related problems.
  • Anticipate potential future challenges of current infrastructure (e.g. performance issues) and together with the team design and implement solutions for these challenges.
  • Test and monitor the performance of TM solution.
  • Build a Machine Learning platform and orchestrating workflow of different models (ML Ops).
  • Align with platform teams (which put code into production systems).

Facts & Figures

  • 40+ other software engineers, data engineers and data scientists to collaborate with and learn from within the same team.
  • 30+ other roles to collaborate with and learn from within the same team (e.g., Anti Money Laundering Experts, Analytics Translators and more).
  • 44,000 Rabobank colleagues around the world.

Top 3 responsibilities

  • Carry responsibility for (large parts of) the data and infrastructure of our TM solution, including infrastructure designs, good quality code and supporting your medior and junior colleagues to use best practices and follow the same way of working across the entire team.
  • Lead alignment with adjacent fields (IT, Architecture, Data Science) to realize optimal performance of our data science model(s).
  • Function as key counterpart for higher management.

Together we achieve more than alone
We believe in the power of difference. Bringing together people's differences is what makes us an even better bank. So we are very curious about what you can bring to our team.

The 90+ people in our Transaction Monitoring team are responsible for detecting money laundering and terrorism financing risks, using analytics models. Working together is the way we work; as 1 multi-disciplinary, highly talented and motivated team at Rabobank. Talking of Rabobank: We are a Dutch bank that operates in 38 countries for over 9,500,000 customers.
