You are the proverbial spider in the IT architecture web for Data and Analytics. You understand intricacies of Information & Data Architecture,  Platform Infrastructure Architecture, Security Architecture as well as Data Management & Data Governance. And you are capable of making your colleagues and management understand where we have the important dots on the horizon and how to get there.

You make Solution Architectures based on your experience and expertise and  give guidance to your colleagues in the IT squads that design and create the solutions.  You communicate, align and obtain buy-in for the IT architecture within your area with management and with your enterprise and business architecture peers. You participate in proof-of-concepts, aligning your solution designs with stakeholders, developing and maintaining architecture standards, and making sure guidelines are understood and supported by your engineers. By doing so you will make life better and easier for customers, colleagues, and Rabobank stakeholders across the world!

You and your job

As a Solution Architect, you are primarily responsible for the creation, approval and buy-in for solution architectures that are aligned with the enterprise and business architectures, guidelines and standards.  As Solution architect you are responsible for bringing the architecture responsibility into the IT teams. This means that the IT teams are also actively consulted in the creation of the Solution Architecture as well as responsible for implementation of the solution architecture via conformant technical designs and solutions.  As such you are the coach and mentor for the teams.

You are pro-actively monitoring market developments and ensuring that our Data & Analytics capabilities continue to meet the needs of our organization. You do this by creating a future-proof architecture roadmap with high end solutions in partnership with the Business Architects and DevOps teams (using Scrum).

  • Take ownership and accountability for the quality of your Solution Architectures.
  • Take responsibility in assuring the technical designs and realized solutions of the IT teams are conformant to the Solution Architecture.
  • Pro-actively monitor market developments
  • Translate business and non-functional requirements into a solution architecture that fits into the (enterprise) architecture
  • Understand the different technologies used within IT Rabobank, such as the Azure cloud platform and its wide variety of services (eg AzureML, Databricks, Synapse), combined with techniques as DevOps and MLOps to help improve the speed and quality of model development and deployment
  • Architect and design for the usability of the products by ensuring the following points: quality, performance, availability, scalability, security, privacy, integrity, interoperability and accessibility

You and your talent

Customer focus, leadership, self-starting, conceptual thinker, analytical skills, fact-based decision making and cooperation are essential for the role of a Solution Architect. In addition, it's important that you recognize yourself in the following:

  • BSc/MSc in Computer Science or another relevant study
  • Experience in an IT/Solution Architecture role for Data-warehousing with a minimum of 3 years
  • Profound knowledge and experience with digital (data) platforms and relevant technologies in this space (Such as Azure DF, Databricks, Azure SQL, Azure DevOps, Collibra, Informatica, etc.)
  • Thorough understanding of Data modelling (Semantic, Conceptual, Logical and Technical), Data Governance and Data Management
  • You have experience and enjoy working in large organizations on complex technological landscapes 
  • It would be a great benefit if you have hands-on experience with developing data driven solutions. By knowing how to do the ground work, so you can communicate effectively in the same language as the teams you are going to support
  • Practical experience with architecture methods and techniques (e.g. Archimate, TOGAF, Zachman, DYA, IAF)
  • Understanding of various Data Architecture concepts such as Data Warehouses, Data Marts,  Data Lake, Data Lake House, Logica Data Warehouse and Data Mesh.
  • Understanding of various Data Modelling methods such as Dimensional Modelling and Data Vault.
  • Knowledge/experience with designing cloud native solutions (preferably on Azure) as well as on-premise DWH’s based on SQL Server / Oracle DBMS.
  • You are familiar with the rituals of Agile / Scrum 
  • Good command of English in speaking and writing (business level proficiency) 
  • You are not afraid to voice your professional opinion and have an open view on the future
  • Prior experience in the Financial Services industry is a big “plus”
