Job Description

Rabobank is seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer with specific expertise in Azure Cloud and Azure DevOps. Our ideal candidate is to be proficient in designing, implementing, and managing secure, scalable cloud solutions with a strong focus on networking, security, cryptography and SSL within Azure. Additionally, the candidate should have significant experience in transaction reporting within the banking sector, basic to intermediate knowledge of .Net or Java, and a focus on optimizing cloud costs. This role is critical in ensuring our cloud infrastructure supports high performance, reliability, and compliance with industry standards.

You and your job

As a DevOps Engineer, you’ll collaborate with a Scrum team in a scaled Agile environment. The following main topics are a part of your daily responsibilities and activities.

Azure Cloud Design and Management:

• Lead the design, deployment, and management of Azure Cloud infrastructure to support Rabobank’s banking applications and services, ensuring high availability and scalability.
• Develop and implement architecture and design patterns for robust, scalable, and secure cloud solutions.
• Utilize Azure services including virtual networks, compute instances, storage, and databases to meet application and business requirements.

Networking in Azure:

• Design, implement, and manage comprehensive networking solutions within Azure, including virtual networks, VPNs, load balancers, and firewalls.
• Ensure secure and efficient connectivity between on-premises systems and Azure cloud environments including optimizing network performance and security through best practices.

Security and Compliance:

• Develop, implement, and enforce security policies, access controls, and encryption mechanisms to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with banking regulations.
• Utilize Azure Security Centre and other Azure security tools for regular security assessments and audits, identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices for data protection and privacy.

Monitoring and Logging:

• Configure and manage Splunk for comprehensive log aggregation, monitoring, and troubleshooting of cloud infrastructure, applications, and security events.
• Implement robust monitoring solutions to ensure proactive identification and resolution of performance issues.

Data Integration and Processing:

• Design, deploy, and manage Azure Data Factory for ETL processes, enabling seamless data integration across various sources.
• Implement data pipelines to support data transformation, loading, and reporting needs, ensuring high data quality and reliability.

Automation and CI/CD:

• Develop and maintain automated deployment pipelines using Azure DevOps, integrating CI/CD practices to streamline application delivery.
• Utilize infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Microsoft Bicep or ARM templates or Terraform to automate provisioning and management of cloud resources.

Collaboration and Mentorship:

• Work closely with development, operations, and security teams to optimize application performance and security.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

You and your talent

Technical savviness, eye for detail and complex problem solving are clearly essential skills for this role of DevOps Engineer Azure. Being flexible and taking ownership are basics to create the right mind-set necessary for this function. In addition, it is important that you recognize everything on the checklist below:

• Bachelor degree or higher or proof of being able to work/think on this level.
• Possessing a minimum of 8+ years working experience in Azure Cloud & Azure DevOps.
• Demonstrating strong communication skills and a collaborative team-oriented approach.
• Having participated in international IT projects, in the banking domain or regulatory reporting with proficiency in the English language. Fluency in Dutch is advantageous.
• Familiarity with other cloud platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud Platform.
• Exhibiting curiosity, analytical thinking, proactivity, determination, results-driven mindset, and a willingness to express your opinions and respect other opinions.
• Obtained Azure certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure DevOps Engineer Expert.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
• Experience with working with an external IT vendor in a near- or offshore delivery model.
• You thrive by continuously learn new skills and to keep up to date with new techniques.

• a gross monthly salary up to € 5.800,- (based on your experience and 36 hours per week (40 hours possible as well)).
• 13th month and holiday pay: the holiday allowance and annual allowance will usually be paid out in 12 equal monthly instalments. Employees have the option once a year to opt for the holiday allowance to be paid out in May and the annual allowance in December. 
• an Employee Benefit Budget (11% of your monthly salary). You decide how to spend this budget. This may include purchasing extra leave days, making extra pension contributions, or even receiving a monthly cash pay-out. 
• an annual personal development/training budget of € 1.400,- 
• 100% reimbursement of commuting costs if you travel by public transport! Do you still prefer to travel by car or motorbike? Then choose a commuting allowance. 
• a monthly € 40,- net work from home allowance, based on working from home 5 days per week. 
• a monthly € 40,- net internet allowance. 
• Attractive pension fund with a personal contribution of only 5.5%. Rabobank will contribute 21.5%.
