Business Controller Operations

You will challenge the performance of one or more Operations departments and improve the service and support for our clients while working together with 4,000 colleagues.

You and your job
As a Business Controller Operations you play an essential role in helping to improve the performance of the Retail NL domain. The Business Controller Operations is the responsible for one or more departments within Operations. The Operations domain is responsible the service and support of the client segments of the Dutch retail market and works closely together with the CPO domain to improve end-to-end client processes. In addition, Operations manages all Dutch Facilities and has global Procurement & Vendor Management in place. You challenge when necessary and contribute where possible! In this role you will be reporting to Manager CPO & Operations.

Your proactive and forward-looking analysis leads to new decision making enabling significant improvement in business results. You achieve this by providing new insights as Business Controller and acting as sparring partner with various stakeholders. Challenge when necessary and contribute with impact! Top 3 responsibilities

• Acting as a trusted advisor for the head of one or more departments on (non)-financial and governance matters.
• Steering and coordinating business control activities for the Operations department, such as financial and management accounting, organizing and coordinating financial management cycle (within boundaries of MTP process), challenging senior management in strategic decision making, advising business and supporting management in (financial) steering of domain.
• Help prioritize operational activities between the various Operations teams via meaningful insights to balance business, Tech and Risk priorities to optimize cost-benefit for the bank.

In this position as Business Controller Operations, you have the opportunity to be a true Chief Value Officer (CVO) and bring our CFO (CVO) strategy into action. As Chief Value Officers (CVOs) we team up to add value to the bank. By putting data in perspective and providing guidance on the strategic direction, CVOs ensure that Rabobank remains a rock solid bank. We do this by executing our High Tech - High Touch strategy. We use tech to optimize processes and use data to provide actionable insights. We use our human touch to tell the story behind the numbers. Furthermore, you will provide analyses, benchmarking, scenario analyses etc. to deliver insights and robust challenge that drive the strategy, business decisions and In Control-process. The team is also responsible for controlling the execution of initiatives and projects, the performance on the KPIs and the control of the usage of resources such as costs and capital. Lastly the team supports the business in developing new growth opportunities.

Retail NL is a customer led organization, with customer segments that steer the integral P&L and define the business priorities in the relevant customer journeys (across product, distribution and pricing). We strive for maximum frontline commercial empowerment, decentralizing commercial and risk decisions where possible within guardrails (risk criteria and authority set and monitored). We stick to S@S way of working and even extend this to Operations, but the Commercial responsibility is transferred to the customer segments. Centralization of products in the MT Retail NL to optimize the backlog prioritization process and drive improvements in product journeys as well as efficiency in the end-to-end product value chain.

You and your talent

Customer focus, communication power, personal development and realizing results are clearly essential for the role of Business Controller Operations. In addition, it's important that you recognize yourself in the checklist below: 

• You have a completed university education, or higher, with a numerical or strategic focus;  
• You are an expert in finance and control (s.a. Basel IV and IFRS 9) and understand the impact of legislation on the business;
• You are a sparring partner on financial and strategic matters;
• You are open and transparent, able to challenge the business and supporting units to reach Rabobank’s goals and results;
• You live & work in the Netherlands, have a EU working permit;
• You speak, read & write both fluent Dutch & English.

This is what we offer you

• A gross monthly salary between € 4292 - 6130, (depending on experience) which amounts to a maximum gross salary of approximately € 86000 euro on an annual basis;
• An Employee Benefit Budget (11% of your 12 month salary). You decide how to spend this budget. This may include purchasing extra leave days, making extra pension contributions or even receiving a monthly cash pay-out;
• A 36 hour workweek;
• Hybrid working.
