Job Description

We are looking for a medior Analytics Translator to join our dynamic, enthusiastic, and high-performing team. You will work together with over 150 other motivated and knowledgeable colleagues to fight financial and economic crime by developing & enhancing Rabobank’s transaction monitoring model. As a medior analytics translator, you directly ensure that data scientists and engineers, product owners, and functional experts working in different squads develop valuable model components and that they can implement these components more easily with clear and efficient processes.

You and your job

As a medior analytics translator, you play a pivotal role in shaping and guiding the development of Rabobank’s transaction monitoring model. With a clear and comprehensive understanding of the model’s functionality and technical possibilities, you actively collaborate with data scientists to brainstorm and define features and requirements that drive innovation and improvement. You enable your colleagues by providing the necessary context, aligning on objectives, and ensuring clarity in communication, but do not code or conduct analyses yourself. Instead, your focus lies on enabling efficient collaboration across disciplines and streamlining processes to maximize impact.

You take ownership of improving and optimizing processes within data science workflows to ensure scalability, reliability, and efficiency across teams. Your responsibilities often extend across multiple simultaneous projects, where you collaborate with a diverse group of professionals, including data scientists, data analysts, DevOps engineers, anti-money laundering experts, product owners, and other analytics translators. You drive strategic discussions, provide actionable insights, and facilitate alignment across stakeholders, ensuring project goals are met effectively and efficiently. Additionally, you actively contribute to a learning environment by participating in regular planning, alignment, and knowledge-sharing sessions with your peers and you coach and onboard fellow analytics translators.

Practical examples

  • You take the lead on specific topics, processes, or projects, proactively addressing inquiries and requests from colleagues. As the owner of our sign-offs process (ensuring model changes meet quality standards), you have an in-depth understanding of the process's objectives, each step's purpose, the stakeholders involved, the underlying risks, and the impact of changes within our landscape. You drive strategic discussions on bottlenecks, deficiencies, and potential solutions. Additionally, you organize a taskforce to address identified issues, plan implementation based on timelines, and lead decision-making by involving the right people at the right time.
  • You proactively identify risks and gaps in processes, taking ownership to address them effectively. For instance, you lead a taskforce to design, approve, and implement tests and acceptance criteria for monitoring key risks in our model and its governance. You coordinate with various roles for effective technical and functional implementation and ensure comprehensive documentation of each step, detailing the rationale behind actions and decisions. Your in-depth understanding of our model’s landscape allows you to anticipate how environmental changes could impact the tests or acceptance criteria. You proactively assess these changes, adjust and refine tests and criteria based on expected impacts to ensure the model's robustness and adaptability.
  • You efficiently manage stakeholders and their expectations, proactively leading initiatives to enhance project outcomes. For example, when a team of data scientists aims to build a functionality in the platform to improve money laundering detection, you conduct a thorough analysis to demonstrate its feasibility and effectiveness. You strategically plan and collaborate with data scientists or data analysts throughout all steps, from feasibility assessment to iterative implementation. You formalize and lead taskforces to achieve specific steps within the implementation process, ensuring collaborative problem-solving and timely resolution. You drive innovation by visualizing and presenting the final results compellingly, creating PowerPoint proposals with strong supporting arguments to secure stakeholder approval. Additionally, you maintain clear and comprehensive documentation, ensuring all decisions and actions are properly recorded to support transparency and continuous learning.

Top three responsibilities
