Credit Risk Analyst
At a glance
The department is responsible for analysis of the credit risks in the portfolio and for translating the findings into possible changes to policies and processes geared to the optimisation of risk and return, while taking the client's interests into account. The department also provides related management information. The department assesses and monitors credit risks associated with commercial clients. The department liaises with Operational Risk for sharing knowledge and to stimulate risk awareness.
The Credit Risk Analyst has the following responsibilities:
• Responsible for making an autonomous assessment of the risk proposition presented, examining, assessing and authorising funding proposals, as well as advising colleagues on lending-related issues and coordinating lending process activities whilst aligning with group credit policy.
• Work in close cooperation with Business Development Managers, Relationship Managers and Asset Management to assess the proposed funding requirement, the client’s credit worthiness and value of the underlying assets.
• The role holder must be able to assume delegated decision powers. Delegated credit underwriting decision authority is intuit personae by nature. It is not related to (hay) grade level, but is conferred after approval by the relevant approval authority and can be revoked by the delegating hierarchy without notice.
Your job
• Analyses and interprets financial documentation and information, forming a picture of the client's ability to meet its financial obligations in the future. Assesses whether the size and make-up of the proposed facilities are consistent with the client's requirements and/or whether the securities provided and conditions applied are sufficient to cover the risk involved. Establishes whether each credit proposal satisfies the authorisation criteria applicable on the basis of ABF credit policy.
• Discusses provisional outcomes with the proposal's author for authorisation. Asks for revised conditions and/or for additional securities, or advises on the scope for arriving at a finance construction that is suitable for all parties. Advises Managers on handling complex items that require additional attention. Comments on proposals, explains positions taken and advises on possible finance constructions. In complex cases, suggests alternative financing solutions.
• Authorises credit proposals within the given individual authorisation level. Results should be consistent and, in line with the credit policies and risk appetite, understandable and feasible for the Relationship and Business Development Managers.
• Review and analysis of Risk Factor statistics and reports, Asset collateral value, unsatisfactory and poor audit reports and commenting on sufficiency of mitigating actions taken by Asset Management as well as Client Debtor and supplier contracts, and recommending / approving funding structures based on the outcome of the same.
• Examines new methods, resources and knowledge-related matters to assess their effectiveness and applicability in relation to working methods and collaboration within the Department and with Relationship Management and Business Development teams. Consults Stakeholders about modifying work processes and the introduction of changes. Supervises the introduction of methods and resources with the aim of increasing organisational effectiveness and being Client centric.
• Takes part in projects within his/her field of activity. Flags up developments and makes proposals regarding the preparation, improvement or implementation of matters within the various lending disciplines. Undertakes sub-projects and shares responsibility for the implementation of sub-project and for the quantitative and qualitative performance of the project team.
• Monitors the financial press and other internal and external information sources in order to stay abreast of general and economic developments, as well as trends and developments in the various. Is responsible for the communication of lending-related knowledge. Supports fellow Credit Analysts in their proposals / reviews and credit-related matters in general. Advises manager regarding relevant issues and issues warranting attention in the context of courses and workshops.
• Maintains contacts with a variety of Stakeholders throughout the organisation and represents the bank in dealings with service providers in the risk management domain. Is visibly lively for business purposes in area of focus, in coordination with other ABF Stakeholders. Represents the organisation in an appropriate manner, also in unfamiliar situations. Makes presentations regarding the relevant area of focus.
• Ensures the availability of management information regarding credit-related processes and services in order to support Management make their choices.
• Monitors relevant market developments in specialist field. Translates findings into implications, opportunities and constraints, in support of policy development.

Your profile
• Proven financial industry working experience;
• Knowledge of commercial finance market and products and activities;
• Experience in structuring of deals;
• Ability to interpret financial statements;
• Advanced understanding of financial ratios and business values and strong investigative skills with an ability to question assumptions;
• Advanced knowledge of credit risk consideration methodologies;
• Experience of assessing sustainability and other environmental and social risks would be beneficial;
• Experience of working with Risk Factor would be beneficial;
• Highly motivated and aspiring, with high energy levels and ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively;
• Eagerness to learn and self-develop;
• Solution focused and can-do mentality;
• Good / strong Risk knowledge;
• Ability to collaborate effectively with internal Stakeholders;
