Originator Financial Institutions - Debt Capital Markets

We are looking for an experienced Financial Institutions Debt Capital Markets (FI DCM) originator who will be focusing on Bank and Insurance clients in North Western Europe – focused on regions such as Spain, Portugal and Belgium. Within this job you are directly client facing and together with the other team members you’ll give best advice on client’s funding and capital needs and execute transactions for them. We are a rapidly growing team in terms of revenues, clients and transactions within ABN AMRO. As such, we are looking for a pro-active and enthusiastic professional with a hands-on mentality who is willing to run the extra mile.
Your job
Your job consists mainly of pitching for and the execution of primary bond issuances for our clients. Together with our Specialist teams, you take part in analyzing bank and insurance sector themes and balance sheets, you will pinpoint to possible funding or capitalization issues that are derived from that analysis, and subsequently you assist in preparing client pitches and executing products tailored to specific needs from our client base.
You will be operating in a heavily regulated sector in which applicable regulations are constantly evolving. Keeping abreast of the ever changing landscape is a steep but extremely interesting task. You will map all applicable Debt Capital Market dynamics and will advise clients on a joint basis with other ABN AMRO departments (e.g. Coverage, Syndicate, Sales, Research and Trading).
The FI DCM team consists of 10 people mixed between senior and junior team members. The team radiates energy and has a total dedication to clients and product expertise. Our team is predominantly based in Amsterdam but we also operate from our Frankfurt and London offices. We enjoy a great team spirit and help colleagues where needed and possible.

Our products include fixed income securities for Financial Institutions such as covered bonds, senior unsecured (preferred and non-preferred), Tier 2 and AT1 bonds. In line with the ABN AMRO strategy, we increasingly focus on ESG bonds such as Green, Social and Sustainable bonds.
Within the broader DCM team, the FI DCM Origination team is being supported by the following Specialist teams:
- Sustainable Finance. Within the team we advise clients how to best attract Green, Social or Sustainable Financing against sustainable assets or activities.
- Hybrid Capital, Subordinated debt and Liability Management services.
- Secured Debt (RMBS, CMBS, warehouse facilities, ABS). Additionally, we offer financing advice to Real Estate and consumer finance asset portfolio acquiring parties.
Your profile
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with an eagerness to work with clients
- Prior debt capital markets experience in origination 6-9 years and proven relationship skills
- Affiliation with (debt) capital markets and fixed income
- Ability to work under pressure and manage projects in a fast paced environment to meet both internal and external stakeholder requirements
- Structured relationship management approach, both with clients as well as internally
- Appropriate academic background
- Excellent language skills in English and ideally Spanish or other European languages
- Good knowledge in Excel and PowerPoint (PowerBI is a plus)
