Your work

As a Non-Financial Risk Specialist, you are dedicated to maintain and improve the integrity of Markets’ processes, employees, and clients. Therefore you optimise the reliability of reports and you contribute to the overall effectiveness of the control framework. And are you monitoring the Markets Risk Control framework to safeguard overall compliance with the appropriate internal and extern regulations to protect our license to operate.
More specifically, your activities are focused on to identify and analyse defects in the controls (including management controls) and the associated first and/or second line risks. Assess the control environment through data gathering using interviews, observations, file searches, diagnoses, risk assessments, and organisational assessments. And to use your findings to convince relevant stakeholders that measures that have to be taken are both useful and necessary. You participate in the execution of the Markets Risk Control planning and contribute in enhancements in the Markets Control Framework
Furthermore you develop methodologies and processes that allow the business to maintain its risk appetite. And you also conduct follow-up studies to assess how your advice is acted upon. Where necessary and together with Compliance, you maintain contact with relevant regulators.

Working environment

As a Non-Financial Risk Specialist you contribute to achieving the defined goals of the Markets. You are advising the Markets Business and MT Markets on the risk control framework, risks and inadequacies in internal control measures and related quality improvements in reporting, documentation and processes in accordance with (legal) frameworks, regulations and guidelines of supervisors. As a Non-Financial Risk Specialist you are part of the Business & External Control and Support team. This team in itself belongs to Products Strategy Management & Control within Markets. The team consists of 5 Non-Financial Risk Specialists. You report to the Head of Business & External Control and Support.

Your profile

Advising business on risks, weaknesses in internal controls and related quality improvements in reports and documentation in accordance with statutory frameworks and requirements, and regulatory guidelines. Here lies a major part of your experience. Energetic and a can-do mentality (combines thinking and doing). You like to deliver tangible results and have an open and honest communication style. That’s who you are.

Do you recognise yourself in this? Then check your profile:

  • You work and reason at a university level and have 5-10 years’ experience of enhancing and maintaining the integrity of processes
  • You are familiar with legislation and regulations relating to risk management (within Markets would be a plus). You know how apply this knowledge in your work and ensure consistency between related risk areas.
  • You are risk awareness and advise management on respective measure of control to mitigate the risk and are able to share your thoughts inspirationally
  • You have great networking and a well-developed organisation sensitivity
  • Advisory skills to comply with the applicable laws and regulations
  • You have well-developed writing skills
