Assistant Accountant

Role Purpose

The purpose of this role is to be responsible for the month-end process and general ledger maintenance. You will assist and oversee the daily cash management calculation and bank account maintenance, and may be required to assist with the Accounts Payable and Receivable function. This role is a permanent full-time role.

Role Responsibilities

• Responsible for making payments as part of the funding processes and ensure payments are paid in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Perform daily bank and nostro account reconciliations to ensure accounts are not overdrawn
• Assist with the preparation of the monthly P&L and BS including processing of journals and analysis of income and expenses
• Assist with the preparation of month-end reports to Head Office for consolidation and reporting to external regulatory bodies
• Assist with the internal and external audit process as required
• Compile and process invoices accurately to clients and follow up on payments in a timely manner

Role Requirements

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting and working towards a CPA qualification
• 3 years relevant working experience in an Accounting environment
• Sound knowledge of Accounting procedures and financial systems
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritise conflicting demands
• Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem solving skills
• Proficient with Microsoft products, mainly Excel
