At a glance

As part of the Risk Department, the Debtor Risk team is responsible for the management and monitoring of debtor risk issues connected to the Non-Recourse Factoring, Assured Invoice Discounting portfolio and Recourse funding limits. Debtor Risk is responsible for making an independent assessment of requested credit limits and ensuring compliance with all requirements of the credit insurance policy to maximise cover available to clients whilst also managing bad debt claims and write offs in order to prevent unnecessary loss to ABF. Debtor Risk is responsible for maintaining a working relationship with the local Credit Insurance Company representatives and ensuring follow up on the agreed SLA is achieved.

To provide ABF UK Clients both internal and external with a high quality, effective and sensitive Debtor Management Service which balances client needs with the needs of ABF.

To act as the UK Debtor Risk SPOC (Single Point of Contact) for the Debtor Risk SRTO (Subsidiary Risk Type Owner) and the ABF UK business.

Your job

Contributes to the UK risk policy by monitoring relevant internal and external developments and assesses their impact. Evaluates and discusses trends and situations which are important for the risk appetite and addresses the implications for the risk policy to local management.

Is an active member of the Bad Debt Protection (“BDP) Community within ABF, taking responsibility for local implementation and compliance with debtor risk group guidelines and processes. Takes a pro-active role and is able to lead a global subteam responsible for harmonizing and optimizing BDP product & debtor risk processes and guidelines over the countries. Sets the example in being an ambassador of the global debtor risk team and the BDP product.

Creates and maintains a network with ABF and ABN AMRO departments active in their area of attention and relevant external parties for instance local Credit Insurer and Trade Credit Insurance broker relationships and Regulators. Shows and convinces them about the benefits of co-operation with ABF. Makes agreements about the approach of related subjects and regularly evaluates the cooperation and the results. Represents ABF UK during external meetings related to this area of attention.

Supports, assists and prepares dashboard reports for the local Risk & Control Meeting and SERC to coordinate the implementation of any risk initiatives and to provide support to the business units and the central level on risk issues. Gives second opinions on all risk proposals submitted to the risk committees by the business. Decisions with significant impact on the risk profile must be made through the appropriate committee.

Supports UK team regarding Asset Based Lending files and sets the example and has a coaching role regarding risk assessments. Supports and develops the UK Risk Department in the area of credit & asset risk structuring. Supports and educates the business on the BDP product and in developing risk management knowledge and skills.

Underwriting funding limits up to the level of authority agreed for the individual and in accordance with ABF UK credit policy.

Monitoring credit and funding limits to ensure that they are reviewed for lack of use and removed or reinstated where applicable. This minimises end of year credit limit costs.

To co-ordinate the credit assessment of all new prospect opinions and liaise with the sales team regarding any issues relating to the opinions.

To co-ordinate credit assessment on all non-recourse take-ons including switching of facilities by existing clients.

Withdrawing credit and funding limits on customer accounts where payment patterns or changes in information dictate this to be the appropriate course of action.

Ensuring the optimum level of information required for credit decision appeals is gathered, collated and presented in the prescribed format and manner.

Checking credit and funding approvals on the Aquarius System and ensuring that Clients are advised of the reply.

Ensuring that Debtor Account records, including changes in credit information, are updated in accordance with ABF policy.

Gathering all required paperwork and information to submit claims to Credit Insurance Provider in prescribed format and within required timescales. Ensure good communication is maintained with clients and client relations in regard to the claim process.

Process all bad debt and protracted default payments for clients in a timely fashion.

Report to Credit Insurance Provider any adverse information received or payment patterns outside guidelines of any debtors. Ensuring compliance with Insurance policy and timely payment of claims.

Use of overdues reporting to remove or suspend credit limits where applicable – managed on a daily basis.

Administration of client’s Discretionary Credit Limits reporting and claims.

Your profile

• Experience in a similar role;
• Proven financial industry working experience;
• Knowledge of commercial finance market and products and activities;
• Ability to interpret financial statements;
• Knowledge of credit risk analysis methodologies;
• Experience of working with Aquarius would be beneficial;
• Strong attention to detail
