At a glance

The Deal Structurer (“DS”) is positioned within the commercial department of ABN AMRO Lease UK (“Lease”) and reports to the Head of Sales Lease.

The commercial department for Lease currently consists of Business Development Directors (“BDD”), Relationship Directors (“RD”), Portfolio Managers and Commercial Support. BDD’s are responsible for new client acquisition through specific channels - ABN AMRO Bank, Direct and via Key Business Introducers (“KBI”). RD’s are responsible for day to day management of existing client relationships and developing new business/lending opportunities from within their client portfolios. Portfolio Managers are responsible for in-life management of the credit review process, client and covenant monitoring. The Commercial Support team supports the RD’s with documentation production and deal execution.

The DS role has been created to bring 1st Line risk expertise to the commercial team. The DS will work very closely with the BDD and assist the client acquisition process through prospect due diligence and by inputting into credit applications (from a business, financial, structural and asset risk perspective).

Your job

By supporting the BDD with their new business development activities, in line with our strategic goals, the DS contributes to the expansion of the portfolio in the UK. The job holder is an expert in risk analysis/assessment and has experience in equipment leasing. They manage priorities, communicate effectively and respond to the different interests of internal and external stakeholders. Gains are achieved through effective collaboration with 2nd Line enabling functions (e.g. Risk Management, Asset Valuation, Legal) and the local ABN AMRO Bank.

The DS has the following responsibilities:
• Assist with new client acquisition by working closely with the BDD
• Assist with prospect/transaction due diligence by ensuring prospective clients/transactions fit within our strategic goals and moderate risk profile
• Supporting the new client onboarding process, particularly with regards to deal structuring and the credit application process (including full risk analysis/assessment).
• Maintaining relationships with 1st and 2nd Line stakeholders within Lease and ABN AMRO Bank.
• Working independently, as well as part of a deal team.

Targets & Results
• Targets will be aligned with group targets on revenue, profit, balance sheet growth, portfolio mix, risk and costs.
• Performance Management & Measurement are conducted in respect of output and behaviour.

Expertise
• Provides expertise, in line with commercial plans, to optimise income/return from financing structures with new clients.
• Coordinates and executes new client onboarding and draws up recommendations for 2nd Line functions.
• Coordinates and enhances the internal and external network of stakeholders.

Risk
• Assesses thoroughly if risks, including, but not limited to, reputational, credit, asset, market, operational and money laundering related risks are in line with the moderate risk profile of Lease.
• Looks for opportunities within the moderate risk profile by using a targeted approach to prospects and KBIs.

Processes and Procedures
• Follows agreed policies and protocols, whilst continually looking to improve existing business processes within Lease.

• Corporate and Institutional Banking which includes Corporate Banking, Clearing, Global Markets - Sales & Trading and Financial Institutions
• Commercial Banking which includes Asset Based Finance and International Desk, which provides transactional banking services

Our business lines are supported by a number of functions such as Risk, Compliance, Legal, IT, Finance (Including Tax), Business Management and Human Resources. We currently employ approx. 380 people in the UK.

• Culturally well developed.
• Experienced in asset finance/leasing and risk assessment, with a good working knowledge of the market, it’s products and activities.
• Credibility and gravitas to represent Lease in a professional manner.

• Strong risk knowledge, particularly from a business, financial, structural and asset risk perspective.
