As a (junior) Strategy Consultant in the Strategy Office team of Personal & Business Banking (P&BB), you are working on the formulation and execution of the strategy for senior management. You work with experts across the bank on a variety of topics, such as sustainability, growth strategy, new business opportunities, and M&A. You are doing this together with one of your colleagues in the team, as we work together in project teams. You are ambitious, eager to learn, have a positive energy and one of your strengths is problem solving. You are always focused on getting conceptual strategies to concrete decisions and execution, because as they say: “strategy without execution is a hallucination!”.

Your job

Supporting the development and execution of the vision and strategy for ABN AMRO’s Personal & Business Banking. Examples of activities:

  • Identifying new business opportunities coming both from internal (P&L) analysis, and from external/peer assessments. Participating in benchmarking initiatives and identifying possible (growth) opportunities.
  • Participating in high-impact strategy projects.
  • Working on ad-hoc requests, e.g., presentations for the Executive Committee or Supervisory Board
  • Translating the strategy into concrete Objectives & Key Results (OKR’s) together with the MT P&BB and monitoring progress of our strategy execution.
  • Developing our sustainability strategy and coordinating activities for P&BB.

You will work closely with a diverse set of stakeholders within ABN AMRO, such as the Segment Development Teams, the product grids, Group Strategy & Innovation, Sustainability Center of Excellence and colleagues in Wealth Management and Corporate Banking.

Your profile

You are a self-starter who is eager to learn and enjoys taking responsibility. You like to solve a complex puzzle. Most importantly, you are a real team player that is always willing to help others out and also reaches out for help when needed. Of course, you communicate clearly, both verbally and written.

On your CV:

  • Academic level
  • 2 to 4 years working experience
  • (Business) projects or (extra)curricular activities in which you developed:
    • Communication skills
    • Problem solving skills
    • (Quantitative) analyses
    • Team work
    • Organisational sensitivity
  • Proficiency in Dutch language (preferably fluent) and English
  • Basic knowledge of the Dutch retail banking market is a pre, since ABN AMRO Personal & Business Banking has a main focus on the Dutch market

  • The gross monthly salary displayed above is based on a 36-hour work week, including vacation pay and benefit budget.

We serve private clients with assets up to €500,000 and business clients with a turnover of up to €25 million. The Strategy Office Personal & Business Banking consists of 10 business strategy consultants. The Strategy Office supports the management team of Personal & Business Banking (P&BB) with strategic analyses that helps to make the right decisions and set the right direction for the teams. Next to this, we support a focused execution of the strategy by helping teams to translate their strategy in measurable Objectives & Key Results. We also prepare materials for interaction with external stakeholders, the Executive Board and the Supervisory Board.

The head of Strategy Office reports to the Chief Commercial Officer of the client unit Personal & Business Banking. Examples of recent assignments have been defining a strategy for attracting minor clients, defining the ambition in sustainability, and setting up the Objectives & Key Results for the coming years. We have a nice mix of seniority levels in the team. As a Junior Strategy Office consultant, you will be responsible for workstreams of larger projects, performing qualitative and quantitative analysis and drafting the advice for management together with Strategy Office colleagues.
