At a glance

Are you a structured finance professional with a minimum of 6-7 years of client-facing experience with an affinity for the Energy Transition. Are you eager to work closely together with energetic and committed colleagues to ensure that specialised and tailor-made financing solutions are delivered to our clients and that management of our portfolio is sound and growing in a sustainable way?

As our new (Associate) Director within Project and Infrastructure Finance you will be responsible for building and maintaining strong, sustainable, long-term relationships with clients and prospects by offering financing solutions and the subsequent ongoing management of the relationship with the client across the full life cycle of the credit relationship.

Within Project and Infrastructure Finance we arrange debt financing for long-term infrastructure projects. Our team has a strong focus on supporting the energy transition, the digitalisation of society and the decarbonisation of mobility. Within energy transition we finance a wide range of technologies, including conventional renewable energy projects (such as offshore and onshore wind, solar, geothermal and energy from waste), emerging technologies (such as low carbon fuel pathways/Power to X, energy efficiency projects and floating offshore wind) and energy storage and transportation (stand-alone and co-located batteries, district heating). We operate across Europe out of our offices in Amsterdam, London and Frankfurt. Within the Project and Infrastructure Finance team we also take collective responsibility for the portfolio management activities of our transactions, supported by a number of dedicated portfolio management colleagues.

Your job

It will be your job to arrange and structure complex project financings, predominantly for projects in the Energy Transition landscape. You will originate, onboard and execute new deals, write credit applications and review due diligence and legal documentation. You will negotiate and coordinate with clients, agents, external advisors (legal, technical, insurance, market, financial) and our internal mid- and back office and perform associated financial analysis on relevant projects. You will also assist in market analysis and commercial activities, including pitching to clients and attending lenders’ meetings.

In addition, alongside other colleagues you will also be responsible for management of the existing portfolio of transactions, including monitoring and management of integrated risks. You will be responsible for timely handling of waivers/amendments, refinancing requests and in-depth credit reviews of our transactions.

You typically work in deal teams tailored to the case at hand, taking into account the required balance in terms of seniority and sector expertise. In close cooperation with the syndicate team you actively support selective distribution of debt exposures to third parties.

As a (Associate) Director you will work closely with juniors and trainees. Part of your job is to coach and develop the more junior staff in the team.

Working environment

The Project and Infrastructure Finance team consists of approx. 35 professional women and men, with diverse backgrounds and nationalities. The team works along dedicated sub-sector lines, with individual sector heads, but also works closely together as one broader team, fully aligned with the ‘Banking for Better’ and Climate Plan strategies of the bank.

Your place of work will be in Amsterdam. We have a hybrid working model, with an average of 3 days per week at the Gustav Mahlerlaan office, where we have all stakeholders in our vicinity (Client Coverage, Credit Risk, Syndication, Markets, Legal, Sustainability etc).

The success of our organisation depends on the quality of our people and the ideas and drive they possess.
