At a glance

Do you see the importance of risk management within the financial sector? Have you have always wanted to work with data in the Financial or Non-Financial Risk side, with the newest Microsoft technology? We strive to do this effectively by implementing Azure Cloud Services and we need your help to do this!

Your job

As a Data Engineer you will have a crucial contribution in making relevant and high-quality data available to internal stakeholders and external regulators. We work with multiple data platforms for use cases on ESG, Finance, Financial & Non-Financial Risk, Tax and Modelling.

In the Modelling Data Teams (MDT) specifically, the work focuses on preparing datasets that the Modelling team will use to create risk models. Preparing these datasets means going through multiple layers with ETL pipelines. The teams maintain and improve these pipelines, for example: adding a new source to one of our pipelines, changing attributes in one of our sources based on new requirements, fixing broken pipeline runs, optimizing load time and compute costs. Additionally, there is collaboration with other engineers within the platform to work on common tasks, such as improving our code quality and unit test coverage. In short, you will work on:

• Developing, testing, and deploying applications and frameworks
• Collecting, loading, preparing, cleaning, and delivering big and diverse datasets
• Building, monitoring and maintaining pipelines
• Optimizing the applications performances and the data delivery
• Identifying ways of improving the data quality and efficiency
• Aligning and collaborating with stakeholders, product owners and data architects

Working environment

The MDTs are part of the Finance & Risk Data Department. Our ambition is to optimize the risk data landscape, so that both our customers and ABN AMRO we can effectively manage our risks and can conduct business with integrity. The data teams are responsible for loading, transforming and integrating data to feed reports and enable analyses.

The atmosphere within the team and the department is open and informal. You will work in a diverse team with many different nationalities, a good junior-senior ratio and a diverse & inclusive environment. We work hard, but there is certainly room for fun!

Your profile

You have a strong drive to continuously improve your expertise. You are good at conveying your expertise to others, sharing information with team members and working together to come up with solutions to complex problems. You are not afraid to voice your opinion and getting things done is a motto you live by. What are we looking for:

  • At least 2 years of experience in data engineering
  • BSc or MSc in computer science or relevant field
  • Highly skilled in Python, Spark and Airflow
  • Experience with Azure data tooling (Databricks, Data Factory, Azure DevOps, etc.)
  • Experienced with SQL
  • Understanding of distributed systems
  • Experience with building ETL data pipelines
  • Experience with using CI/CD pipelines and Continuous Testing
  • Fluent in English
