Project & Infrastructure Finance Banker / Associate
The Project & Infrastructure Finance Associate role is based in the London office and positioned in the Project & Infrastructure Finance department, reporting to the Managing Director, Head of UK Project & Infrastructure Finance.
ABN AMRO Corporate Banking (CB) has a client base of approximately 2,000 commercial clients. In the Netherlands, we serve clients with revenues exceeding EUR 250 million. In Northwest Europe (France, Germany, United Kingdom and Belgium) and a limited selection of other jurisdictions, we serve clients with revenues exceeding EUR 100 million.
Financing Solutions (FS) is the Lending unit of CB where all Lending offerings and expertise are clustered. FS is responsible for the origination, structuring, execution and portfolio management of a variety of lending products for all
sectors and segments. Project &Infrastructure Financing sits within the Specialised & Syndicated Lending division of Financing Solutions.
Within Project & Infrastructure Finance we arrange debt financing for infrastructure projects. Our team has a strong focus on supporting the energy transition, the digitalisation of society and the decarbonisation of mobility. Within energy
transition we finance a wide range of technologies, including offshore and onshore wind, battery storage, solar, geothermal and energy from waste as well as considering emerging technologies including floating offshore wind, hydrogen and carbon capture. Within digital we typically focus on data centres, towerco’s and fibre connections and within mobility we consider electric vehicle charging, de-carbonised transport and battery cell manufacturing, amongst others. The Project & Infrastructure Finance team takes collective responsibility for the portfolio management activities of our transactions, supported by a number of dedicated portfolio management colleagues.
Split between Amsterdam, London and Frankfurt offices, the Project & Infrastructure Finance team consists of over 35 professional colleagues, with diverse backgrounds and nationalities. The team works along dedicated sub-sector lines, with individual sector heads, but also works closely together as one broader team, fully aligned with the ‘Banking for Better’ and Climate Plan strategies of the bank.
The role of an Associate in the Project & Infrastructure Finance team is to be a key deal team member to arrange and structure complex Project & Infrastructure Finance lending, across our three target sectors. This involves origination activities, negotiating term sheet and credit agreements, writing credit applications, preparing financial analyses and reviewing due diligence materials and legal documentation. The team negotiates and coordinates with clients, financial advisors, due diligence providers (legal, technical, insurance, market/commercial, model audit) as well as working with a range of internal stakeholders, including credit, syndicate , coverage, client acceptance and mid and back office. The Associate will also assist in research, market analysis and commercial activities, including pitching to clients and attending lenders’ meetings.
In addition, alongside other colleagues you will also be responsible for management of the existing portfolio of transactions, including monitoring and management of integrated risks. You will be responsible for timely handling of waivers/amendments, refinancing requests and in-depth semi-annual credit reviews of our transactions.
You typically work in deal teams tailored to the case at hand, taking into account the required balance in terms of seniority and sector expertise. In close cooperation with the syndicate team you actively support selective distribution of debt exposures to third parties.

Our preferred Project & Infrastructure Finance Associate has existing client facing, execution and risk management experience within at least one of the energy, digital or mobility sectors, who will be able to quickly get up to speed with the team’s deal and sector focus to manage complex, highly structured financing solutions.
Our ideal candidate does not stick to one particular specialism but is able to adapt to a range of different geographies, technologies, regulatory regimes and structures, applying cross-learning to continually develop new expertise. Our candidate should also benefit from the following skills and experience:
• Graduate or equivalent.
• At least two years’ experience of working for an established financial institution or professional services firm, ideally in a client facing team.
• Determined and proactive self-starter.
• Willingness to question in an appropriate manner and contribute to improving standards and quality at all times.
• Demonstrable understanding of credit and risk related elements and processes.
• Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong computer literacy and technical skills, proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Keen awareness and desire to build relevant industry related knowledge.
• Solid understanding of business drivers across a range of sectors, as well as the general market environment, including ability to understand how conditions might impact ABN AMRO's clients.
• Accurate attention to detail and consistently striving for the highest quality output in all work.
• Excellent in English (oral and written) and preferably additional languages.
• Solid understanding of the various banking products and services available to Corporate clients.
