At a glance

The Market Surveillance Officer is responsible for Trade and Order Surveillance of the ABN AMRO Clearing’s client activity on the UK and European markets.

The role is based in London and positioned in Pre-Trade, AML and Market Surveillance Team within the Risk Department. The role reports to the Regional Head of Pre-Trade, AML and Market Surveillance based in Amsterdam and as such the role will require occasional business travel to Amsterdam. There will be a local reporting line into 2LOD Compliance function for HR purposes in London.

The regional Pre-Trade, AML and Market Surveillance team is responsible for Pre-Trade Risk Management, Transaction Monitoring and Filtering, as well as Trade and Order Surveillance. The present role will focus specifically on Trade and Order Surveillance, with the other tasks discharged by colleagues in the Amsterdam office. The team reports to the European Chief Risk Officer based in Amsterdam.

Your job

o Trade and order surveillance: Handling alerts on T+1 basis, including alert review, investigation, escalation, and reporting, as appropriate.
o Coordinate the annual review and calibrations,
o Engage with key stakeholders in Compliance and Middle Office/Technology on day-to-day work, system and data delivery, and resolving any issues impeding daily work;
o Coordinate and contribute to reporting and improving the existing MI and data analytics;
o Assist in training and supervising more junior team members, including with regard to alert handling, investigations and escalations.

Your profile

  • Ideally degree educated or strong academic record.
  • Fluent English
  • A substantial amount of relevant surveillance experience, with focus on Market Abuse detection and Trade Surveillance
  • Excellent working knowledge of surveillance software for trade surveillance, in particular Nasdaq’s NTS/SMARTS
  • Solid understanding of market abuse regulations in Europe and UK (MAR and REMIT)
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Experience in working on MARA Risk Assessments
  • Experience in reporting and MI collation
  • Experience in training junior colleagues and supervising their work
  • A team player with strong written and verbal communication skills
