Who are We?

The Development Tooling department is responsible for the development environment for all the ABN AMRO development teams in the Netherlands, Germany, France, UK and India. This means that we are the IT4IT department of the bank and that our customers/users are the development teams within the bank.

Our goal is to provide the developers within ABN AMRO a compliant path to production with minimal complexity. We do this by providing services such as backlog management, pipeline templates, pipeline agents, security scanning, artefact repositories and many more.

Our department has 8 DevOps teams working closely together. Each team covering a separate part of the software development lifecycle. For example, we have SOLO (Software Logistics), PIPE (CICD Pipelines & Automation), ADOPT (Azure Devops Platform Team) and BB8 (backlog management).

All teams work as DevOps teams, meaning that they are equally responsible for both development and the subsequent operational work (functional questions, patching, admin-activities).

The focus in the work we do, differs per team. Some teams are more focused on developing & maintaining solutions to our customers (for example pipelines), where other teams are more focused on delivering and maintaining of the shelf solutions.

What are we looking for?

Within our department, we are end-to-end responsible, so we have big playing field and there’s a lot to learn. To kickstart your career in our environment, personality and ambition are more important than experience. If you bring a good mindset and generic CICD skills, you will learn all the specifics with us in no time! When we mention ‘generic CICD skills’, we are looking for the following:

  • Understanding of at least 1 object-oriented programming; preferably Python.
  • Understanding of building a Java, Vue and python application using Maven, NPM, Poetry respectively in Azure Devops.

  • A team player who is eager to learn and not afraid to ask questions or make mistakes.
  • You have a bachelor degree, IT related work experience of minimum 3 years.
