Corporate Advisor Shipping Clients

As Associate Director you work in the Shipping Clients team within the Corporate & Institutional Clients domain. Your key responsibilities are: (i) assist with building a portfolio of clients to enhance the cross-sell regarding share of mind products including account planning and co-ordination of origination efforts, (ii) work closely with Corporate Finance Execution to originate, structure and support strategic and advisory mandates (iii) assist with share of mind origination for energy transition and decarbonisation themes and (iv) support international client acquisition. You have a strong interest in the Shipping and intermodal markets and you will be part of the execution deal team with regard to Shipping and intermodal mandates. You will have knowledge and understanding of financial instruments, products and applicability of financing solutions to complex financial planning dilemmas.

Assist with the development of a the Shipping and Intermodal client base that is managed out of the Amsterdam office; act as a trusted advisor
• Support the team regarding client accountability in terms of strategic dialogue, cross-selling and identification of leads
• Support the origination and be actively involved in the execution of Corporate Finance Advisory mandates
• Support the execution of the climate strategy of the bank that is applicable for the sectors that the Shipping Clients team covers
• Work closely together as One Bank with the coverage bankers in the Shipping Clients sector, the relevant product groups (M&A, ECM, etc.) and other internal stakeholders
• Support decarbonisation initiatives across ABN AMRO on mapping new opportunities and executing existing mandates
• Develop sector origination materials, pitchbooks and maintain models. Thought leadership in development of pitchbooks and RFP responses
• Coordinate and manage juniors and interns that will assist in client origination.

Hard skills:
• Master's degree in finance, economics, business, engineering or a related field
• Fluency in English and preferably at least one other European language
• Strong interest in and preferably in-depth knowledge of the Shipping & Intermodal sectors – clients, characteristics, risks
• Strong origination capabilities
• 3-6 years of experience in Investment Banking/M&A, Strategy Consulting, Corporate Development
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner
• Solid understanding of financial markets, investment principles, and industry trends
• View on developments in the shipping sector regarding climate strategies and decarbonisation pathways and translate that into commercial opportunities
• Relevant work experience in corporate finance
