You help realise the delivery of the ABN AMRO strategy: a Personal Bank in a Digital Age. You ensure that the entire bank follows the correct route towards a fully data driven organisation. From shaping new concepts to designing and guiding data management initiatives. You are able to quickly submerge yourself in a brand-new initiative, shape it and ensure it is properly anchored for successful execution.
As Data Governance Oversight expert, your job is to enable collaboration and decision making between different Data Management departments across ABN AMRO and its subsidiaries. You do so by running the Data Committee, the corporate governing body advising the Executive Board on the Bank’s execution of Data Management activities. You design how data stakeholders across the Bank should collaborate and make decisions on a wide variety of Data Management topics. You keep track of the Bank’s end-to-end processes on Data Management. In doing so, you stimulate collaboration on Data Management across ABN AMRO and its subsidiaries.
The results you contribute to:
- Preparing and driving the corporate Data Committee;
- Designing Data Management collaboration and decision making model for ABN AMRO and its subsidiaries;
- Keeping oversight of ABN AMRO’s end-2-end processes on Data Management.
Furthermore, you are an active contributor to the topics your colleagues in the team are working on:
- Designing, driving and formalising Data Management artefacts such as standards and guidelines;
- Providing expert guidance and support in adopting these Data Management artefacts;
- Measuring and reporting on the adoption rate of Data Management targets;
- Controlling adherence to the Data Management artefacts;
- Driving awareness of Data Governance.
This role requires switching context quickly, being action oriented while having strong conceptual capabilities with an understanding of Data Governance and Data Management, risk management and foremost you are able to inspire stakeholders to take action.
You operate in the following organisation:
- You are part of the Central Data Office – Data Governance – Governance & Control department;
- You interact with other departments in the Central Data Office;
- You interact with other Data Management departments across ABN AMRO and its subsidiaries;
- You interact with stakeholders throughout the bank to strengthen alignment with bank-wide initiatives (Legal, Compliance, Information & Operational Risk Management).

- Bachelor or Master’s degree required, preferably in Information Sciences, Business Information Management, Data Management, Legal, Compliance or a related field (like Risk Management);
- At least 4 years work experience in general, preferably in the financial industry or at a consultancy firm;
- Great at simplifying complexity;
- Data-driven mentality and experience;
- Experience in Data Governance, Data Management, or related roles (you are familiar with DAMA DMBOK, Data Mesh, BCBS239, etc.);
- Understanding of the way of working with 3 lines of defense;
- Good consultancy, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders across departments, disciplines and different seniority levels;
- Excellent English and Dutch communication skills.

• The gross monthly salary displayed above is based on a 36-hour work week, including vacation pay and benefit budget.
• The Benefit Budget is 11% of your salary. The Benefit Budget allows you to acquire additional employment benefits. If you make no purchases or reservations in the Benefit Shop in a given month, you are paid one twelfth of your Benefit Budget that month.
• Five weeks of vacation per year. You have the option to purchase an additional four weeks per year.
• Personal development Budget of € 1,000 per year, which you can accumulate up to € 3,000.
