Your job

In your role as Head of IT Solutions you are responsible for:

  • Developing and communicating a strategic vision for the IT Solutions department, aligning with overall business objectives
  • Leading the creation and implementation of IT strategies, ensuring they support the organization's growth and digital transformation goals
  • Collaboration with other departments to integrate IT Solutions as per ICS strategy
  • Staying up to date of emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential impact on IT Solutions
  • Building and leading high-performing teams, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement
  • Mentoring and developing team members, identifying opportunities for skill enhancement and career growth
  • Collaborating with business stakeholders to understand their requirements and ensure that IT meet their needs
  • Managing relationships with external vendors and technology partners
  • Evaluating and selecting vendors based on their ability to provide technology solutions that meet our requirements
  • Negotiating contracts, service level agreements, and other vendor-related agreements
  • Managing the IT Solutions budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources, tools and technologies to meet operational needs
  • Delivery of the IT Renewal Roadmap, together with the other relevant stakeholders

International Card Services (ICS) is a 100% subsidiary of ABN AMRO Bank N.V. with its own independent bank license with DNB and AFM. ICS is a payment service provider and market leader in issuing credit cards in the Netherlands, We have been issuing, promoting, administrating, and processing payments of Visa and Mastercard credit cards for over 30 years. ICS issues credit cards both under its own brand and in conjunction with co-branding partners, for both Consumer and Commercial clients. In addition, we offer various other financial services and products. Our credit cards can be used worldwide to pay at more than 46 million addresses and in any currency. In the Benelux there are now about 2.7 million people with a credit card issued by ICS. You will collaborate closely with the IT Management Team, colleagues within IT, Business and Operations. The team is a mix of ages, experiences, and backgrounds, and alongside hard work, there is always room for fun.


As Head of IT Solutions you are part of the IT Management Team and the wider Leadership Team of ICS. You will be reporting to the the Chief Information and Technology Officer. You will have 8 direct reports and a total of 70 employees in your department. You collaborate closely with colleagues within IT (within ICS and ABN AMRO IT), Vendors, Procurement, Business, Operations and Group Audit of ABN AMRO Bank. ICS strongly believes that the challenges that we are facing can only be successfully handled when we, as a leadership team, work together and achieve for our common goals. Your role is key in the Transformation ICS is going through.


Your workplace is in Diemen, a five-minute walk from Venserpolder (GVB) and Diemen-Zuid (NS) stations. For this job, you are required to be present at the office for at least 50% of your time.

Your profile

You are present on the workplace, have good social communication skills and know how to work together with and within a team. You know how to move between the different layers of the organization, IT as well as business and are a fast thinker. You have experience and affinity with agile working in a challenging environment with many links and dependencies. You have a good dose of persuasiveness and know how to take the environment along in your story. You keep up with the latest developments regarding all the technologies applied within your domain and can innovate and think out-of-the-box.

Ideal experience

  • 10-15 years of experience as (Senior) IT manager
  • A proven track record within IT Development and Delivery
  • Experience with managing a complex composition of stakeholders
  • Experience with managing teams and managing managers
  • Extensive experience in large IT Transformations
  • Completed University degree in Computer Science (MSc) or a like
  • Experience with managing Supplier

Specific knowledge

  • Technical knowledge related to software development & maintenance, solution delivery experience
  • Agile/Scrum/DevOps knowledge, coaching, good IT architecture understanding
  • Proficient in channels and domain/backend technologies, backend APIs, cloud platforms, solution driven approach, CI/CD and testing
  • Knowledge of Payments and/or Financial Services Industry

  • Five weeks of vacation per year. You have the option to purchase an additional four weeks per year.
  • Personal development Budget of € 1,000 per year, which you can accumulate up to € 3,000.
