Senior Financial Risk Manager ALM
It's risky doing business. As a Financial Risk Manager at de Volksbank in Utrecht, you’ll tackle a range of interesting tasks daily – there’s never a dull moment. What’s more, you’ll work for a bank that makes an impact on many lives across the Netherlands.
We believe that banking is about so much more than just money. De Volksbank wants to be of value to its 3 million customers. And to society at large. The clue’s in the name: “the People’s Bank”. Be part of our vision to bring the human touch back to banking.
With this vision in mind, you’ll be working at our Expertise Center Risk, the second line department of de Volksbank, covering all risk areas. As our senior Financial Risk Manager, you’ll strengthen our 2nd line Risk Team that’s responsible for Finance, Risk and Product Development which deals with both financial and non-financial risks. You’ll flex your risk management muscles on a variety of topics, where your main focus will be on IRRBB and other quantitative ALM related topics. You’ll review proposals. Apply rules and regulations. Set risk appetite standards.
Acting as a trusted advisor to (senior) management on a wide variety of risk-related issues and improvement programmes is no stretch for you. Furthermore, you’ll maintain daily contact with stakeholders within the first line and cooperate with other colleagues within the second and third line about relevant internal and external developments that impact the risk profile. You will develop your risk management skills on a broader area within financial risk management, connecting (behavioral) ALM models with internal risk steering and be leading in discussions with stakeholders from the Business, 1st line of defense and senior management. With us, there’s no such thing as a typical day in the office. In fact, working hybrid is very common in our team.
Your responsibilities at a glance:
- Review proposals on IRRBB and behavioral models
- Second line risk responsible for behavioral models

Be part of our vision to bring the human touch back to banking.
You will have 10 colleagues in your team, who are sharing a drive to continuously improve our expertise and propagate risk culture and risk awareness within the bank.
Your competencies
You have a flexible mindset and you (are ready to) embrace the Agile way of working. As an independent spirit, you can take on end-to-end responsibility for your work. You never lose sight of the bigger picture while juggling your many responsibilities.
