Global Markets is looking for a talented and experienced Senior Data Modeler / Business Analyst who wants to work with us to optimally utilize the power of data. As a Senior Data Modeler / Business Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our Markets product data model. This position requires a deep understanding of data modelling, business analysis, and the Markets Domain.
As a Senior Data Modeler / Business Analyst, you will work together with other data professionals and collaborate with a range of business and IT partners. The goal is to enable, simple and efficient data distribution in and outside our Markets Domain. You are responsible for the business aspects of data management, and you are an important link in implementing this in accordance with all laws and regulations and adhering to the ABN AMRO data standards.
As a Data Modeler / Business Analyst you are an employee in the Data Domain Markets and part of the Grid Financial Markets. The Grid is part of Product Strategy, Management and Control Markets and consists at this moment of 7 departments of which 4 value chains, a Data Domain Markets Support & Oversight team, a Data Products Management team and an Advanced Analytics team. 3 out of the 4 value chains are product type oriented (i.e. FX & Commodities, Credits & Rates and Securities Finance, Equities & Treasury) and one value chain is supportive of the other three value chains (Cross Product).
Together we work on data projects and solutions that benefit a variety of data consumers, both inside and outside Markets Domain. The atmosphere is lively and informal, closely monitoring a safe environment where everyone is able to share their thoughts, feelings and worries. It is normal to make mistakes and we help each other to grow better as learning is one of our main focuses.
We collaborate a lot and help each other with data challenges, we all are eager to learn and develop ourselves. We work hybrid, team members work at least one day per week from our headquarters in Amsterdam.
The increasing importance of data for our business operations and innovations has led us to a distributed Data-Mesh architecture, which makes us better prepared for the future. As a Data Modeler / Business Analyst you work within our Data Domain. Develop and maintain comprehensive data models, mapping markets data elements and flows to support our consumers in their data needs. You will work closely with Business and IT stakeholders to understand their needs and requirements and translate them into tangible data deliveries.
We expect from you
- Create and maintain comprehensive data models, mapping Markets data attributes and flows
- Lead the design and optimization of data structures and databases for Markets data storage and retrieval together with our IT Architects
- Work closely with DevOps engineers to provide requirements for the build of the data platform, implement and validate data models, ensuring data accuracy and availability
- Closely collaborate with the product owner and team to translate requirements into Product Backlog Items
- Create and maintain documentation of data models, data lineage, and metadata for Markets data
- Serve as a subject matter expert in data sourcing, integration, distribution, and utilization
Skills

Education and experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Finance, Econometrics or a related field. Master's degree is preferred
- Proven experience in conceptual, logical and physical data modelling and business analysis, particularly within the banking sector and Markets Data Domain
- Understanding of the financial markets products and processes
- Proven experience in data governance policies & procedures
- Proficiency in data modelling tools and techniques, including experience with data modelling software (such as Erwin and Enterprise Architect)
- Strong SQL skills for querying our data
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to data is a plus
- General understanding of IT topics (through technical background or job experience

- Competitive salary, based on 36 hour work week. Grading in salary scale 12
