M&A associate - Corporate Development
To further strengthen our Corporate Development team, we are looking for an experienced M&A associate.
In Corporate Development, we
1. Work on a wide variety of projects, including acquisitions, divestments, strategic partnerships, restructurings and new business proposals
2. Help the bank to position itself for the anticipated consolidation in the European banking landscape
3. Act in the principal role with a long-term strategic focus
4. Assist in developing the bank’s strategy
5. Generate, develop and present ideas, investment & divestment proposals for the Executive Board and the Supervisory Board
Corporate Development is instrumental in executing ABN AMRO’s strategy, in order to optimally position the bank for the future. The team works in close co-operation with and is an advisor to the Executive Board and senior management. Corporate Development’s role is to ensure that M&A transactions are perfectly executed and fit the strategy of the group. The deals you will work on represent a value that may vary from tens to hundreds of millions of euros. The team is small, has high autonomy and is internally and externally well regarded for its professionalism and high quality of work.
The core activities of the M&A associate role include:
⦁ Execute M&A transactions, valuation of targets, submission and evaluation of offers, due diligence, negotiations, and post-merger integration/divestment planning
⦁ Analysis of complex and major business propositions
⦁ Work with and within cross-functional teams including internal and external specialists in the execution of M&A deals
⦁ Develop and maintain relationships which are essential for the execution of M&A transactions.
⦁ Internal stakeholders include Client Units, Legal, IT, Risk, Finance, HR, ExBo, Supervisory Board and others
⦁ External counterparties include investment banks, financial advisors and legal advisors, as well as corporate development departments of other financial institutions
⦁ Provide appropriate support in the identification and/or progression of frontline M&A transactions
⦁ Set up and use a comprehensive set of M&A management protocols and standards.
⦁ Excellent academic track record (Master degree); financial and/or quantitative focus is preferred
⦁ 3 to 6 years of work experience, preferably in M&A / Corporate Finance, private equity or strategy consulting
⦁ Skilled in financial analysis and modelling, corporate finance and project management
⦁ Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills
⦁ Ability to speak and understand Dutch language is a plus
⦁ Strong English language skills, both written and spoken. German and French language skills are a plus
⦁ Experience with Financial Institutions is a plus, but not required.
